Crown and Bridge Dental Work
If you are self-conscious about cracked, broken, decayed or worn teeth, we can bring back your healthy, natural looking smile with dental crowns and bridges.
A crown is one of the strongest restorations available and may be used to cover a tooth and restore it to its normal shape, size and function. A dental crown is designed to fit snugly and function as a healthy cover protecting your tooth from further damage and preserving the jaw’s correct natural alignment.
Once a crown is placed you can care for it as you do your natural teeth. Brushing twice a day and flossing will protect your crowns and bridges well into the future.
A crown may be required if your tooth:
- Is fractured
- Has had root canal therapy
- Has had a substantial portion of the tooth structure lost
- Is weak and needs protection from breaking
- Is heavily filled and needs support
- Is discoloured or badly shaped
- Is badly decayed and needs replacing.
A bridge is an appliance permanently fixed in the mouth to replace missing teeth. It uses remaining teeth to support the new artificial tooth or teeth.
A dental bridge looks and feel like your own teeth, whilst restoring function and aesthetics. They are usually composed of an artificial tooth or teeth to replace missing teeth, and supported by two crowns on either side. For our patients with several missing teeth and who are unsuitable for implants, this treatment provides a viable fixed alternative.
Crowns and bridges are made from a variety of materials such as porcelain or zirconia. The type of material used for your crown and bridge depends on your personal situation. We will advise you of the best approach for your individual needs.
We are proud to offer high-quality Australian made crowns and bridges. You can have peace of mind knowing that your new crowns and bridges have been made by Australian dental laboratories according to TGA-approved standards.
Digital Scans ARE AVAILABLE AT Haberfield Dental Practice.
You no longer have to worry about gagging or tasting impression materials to create your crown. We have become a digital practice and are now using digital scans with the all new iTero Digital Scanner.
Below is a video on how we take a scan for a crown which is then made using a digital work flow to be made perfect for the tooth.
