PLAQUE ATTACK!
Ever wondered how to show your children what too much sugar can do to their little bodies?
Well, you can start with showing what it can do to their teeth by growing your own plaque for a PLAQUE ATTACK science experiment!
Our method:
- Use 1 plastic cup
- 2 tsp yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbs sugar
Mix altogether with a spoon and watch the plaque attack slowly erupt over 10-15 minutes as it grows.
Note, use warm water not hot.
Tip, use the same method in a seperate cup but don’t add the sugar, you can see there will be no plaque attack in that cup so you can explain the difference.
As your #smileydentist it is important to explain to your child how sugar attaches to bacteria in our mouths creating plaque build up. However they also need to understand how we can they minimise this from happening in three simple steps.
1. Brush twice a day
2. Floss once a day
3. Minimise sugar intake
This is really a great one for all ages!
